Losing The Baby Fat - Getting Lean without a Machine
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? Not feeling too fabulous these days? Well, that’s not the question to ask a Mom who is struggling to lose the pregnancy weight. But the good news is that you can overcome the lingering “spell” of Mother Nature’s pregnancy weight and re-claim a toned and lean body. Here’s how you can have a fairy tale ending.
The 21st century Mom is expected to juggle work and family and look fabulous during pregnancy and after pregnancy. Unfortunately, most Moms don’t have the luxury to hire a full-time nanny, personal trainer, chef, assistant or dietician to quickly lose weight after giving birth in order to keep her as the fabulous super Mom she’s expected to be. That’s the reality of the rich and famous. But do you want to live your life under the constant scrutiny of the paparazzi and the general public?
The desire for new Moms to lose weight after giving birth kicks in quickly when the daily activities of caring for the baby and maintaining a household just doesn’t seem to be doing the trick. And the thought of working out at the gym to face the public scrutiny is enough to keep you “hunkered” down at home. What a lot of Moms out there need to know is that there are lifestyle programs available that are designed for the busy Mom. The trick is how to distinguish the good apples from the bad apples.
1. The Big Picture
Any good lifestyle program should have the big picture in place and in your case it is to lose pregnancy weight fast and keep it off. This means that there must be an action plan for you to follow and execute. It also should have the necessary resources to encourage, motivate and educate you on how to achieve and maintain your goal. Most importantly, it must address your weight management in the most holistic way possible by taking into account the psychological factors related to eating as well.
2. The Exercise Regime
Whether you are a cardio junkie or not, exercise is good for the body. But in this case you need to do the exercises that will burn the baby fat and get you that lean fit body and into a smaller dress size. All exercises do provide different benefits for the body. Your goal is to trim your tummy. Therefore, you need to combine cardio with some resistance training.
Muscles are fat-burning factories and therefore, the more muscles you have the more calories you will burn. Also building more muscles also increases your resting metabolic rate. The weight training that builds lean muscle is resistance interval training. Resistance training increases the strength and not the size of your muscles. It is the strength training of choice especially when you want to lose your tummy and get a toned, lean body. Your lifestyle program should incorporate both exercises in order to utilize the benefits of both. Remember it is about losing pregnancy weight. Thus, you need to build muscle and hence burn more fat for the long term.
3. The Extras
A good lifestyle program should have additional tools to help you in losing pregnancy weight and staying healthy. Extra tools such as nutritional guides complete with recipes, daily or weekly menus, follow-up and support e-mails, newsletters, blogs and fitness journals should be available. These tools will further assist and educate you to make and maintain the transition to a healthier lifestyle. Having a forum or support group where you can connect with other women to share ideas, struggles and successes is another example of an excellent bonus to look for in a lifestyle program.
Whatever reason you have to lose your tummy and get into shape, you need to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Losing pregnancy weight should be more than just shedding pounds but it should be a way of maintaining and living a healthy life. Only you can get your body healthy. But getting there will require a good lifestyle program that will be able to see you through the good, the bad and the ugly on your road to health and wellness. The benefits will be tenfold for you and your family.
