Cosmetic Facial Plastic Surgery

by Esther Raab

In recent years, the general public has become increasingly concerned with public persona, appearance, and personal image. A person’s public face is now easily accessible through social media and networking sights like Facebook, MySpace or the more recent business professional site LinkedIN. This ability for increased personal visibility, has caused an increase among those who seek facial plastic surgery. With a simple procedure, a person can dramatically change the ‘face’ they present to others. In a world where it is statistically shown that attractive people are more successful, it comes as no surprise that more and more people are seeking cosmetic facial surgery.

As a person ages, more emphasis is put onto the appearance he or she presents to the outside world. The importance of appearance, coupled with innovative technology has helped lead to an increase in those wanting facial plastic surgery procedures. And facial plastic surgery is no longer limited to aging older women. More and more young women and men are also seeking facial surgery procedures. Often patients seek a subtle change that they feel drastically improve their appearance.

There is an abundance of facial surgery procedures a patient can choose, although face lift and nose jobs tend to be the most common. Face lifts, like a brow or forehead lift involves reducing wrinkles and gives a more youthful appearance. In a brow lift the puffiness and heaviness around a patient’s eyes is removed and helps to make a patient look more youthful and rested. Recovery time is minimal and outcomes are overwhelmingly successful.

A forehead lift produces the same effect as an eyebrow lift; it helps a patient to look more rested, and youthful and usually involves a laser technique to erase wrinkles and lines. A face lift is the most difficult procedure of the three and involves a slightly longer procedure time as well as a longer recovery time. Recovery is is usually two weeks rather than a few days. In this surgery extra skin is removed and the face is tightened and any incisions made are hidden by a patients hairline or ears.

As mentioned before there are many various facial surgeries a patient can have done. However, nose surgery still remains the most common because a nose surgery has both medical and cosmetic reasons behind it. In addition, many young people of both genders desire the procedure. A nose surgery, or nose job, can completely change a patients face in a natural manner, ridding a person of unwanted bumps, or a simple reshaping and refining can be done to help a patient receive the nose they desire.

Emory Healthcare understands the importance of facial plastic surgery, be it medical or cosmetically driven, and therefore has an entire center dedicated to surgical and non- surgical procedures. The Emory Facial Center is refined and private and puts the needs of its patients first. The staff provides the highest level of care and for those seeking facial surgery the Emory Facial Center is a great option.
