The ABCs Of Poodle Care
Although Poodles are definitely amazing dogs and make wonderful pets, before a person goes out and gets one it is important that they be aware of all that is included in the topic of Poodle care. After all, Poodles are very high maintenance and they require a lot more time and attention than most other breeds of dog. They are so attention seeking in fact that if they are left alone even for just a few hours they will tend to lash out. Health conditions, such as Poodle allergies, should also be considered.
They do this in several ways but mainly by barking incessantly and chewing destructively. They typically attack shoes and clothing but may also gnaw at other random items around the home. Providing a Poodle with the proper Poodle care is very important, and essential to ensuring that they are as happy and healthy as possible. It is important that owners realize that there is much more to Poodle care than just walking and feeding them.
One of the most important components of Poodle care is bathing. At the core of every proper dog grooming procedure is the bathing and drying process, but this is never truer than with the Poodle. If a Poodle is not bathed regularly enough or not fluff dried properly than they may experience problems and definitely will not look as attractive.
This will keep their fur from matting and getting tangled, and also make sure that they do not get dry skin or Poodle allergies. Poodle allergies might appear if harsh detergent shampoos as used for bathing. Chemical scents and coloring should also be avoided.
There are a few things that the owner should keep in mind when bathing their Poodle. For one, they should protect the dog’s ears and eyes before giving them a bath, so that no soap or water will get into them. Conditioning is just as important as shampooing with Poodles because their fur is so long and needs to be kept soft and smooth. Also, their fur should be brushed or at least quickly combed both before and after each bath to keep it tangle free.
Common Poodle allergies are caused by food. Many proteins, milk, preservatives and grains like corn and soy can cause allergic reactions in dogs. These allergies usually occur in dogs two to six years of age. Food intolerances are different than allergies, as they cause diarrhea and vomiting and allergies do not.
Many foods such as meats, preservatives, milk and grains such as corn and soy can cause Poodle allergies and treatment usually consists of eliminating foods from the diet one at a time until the culprit food is found and removed from the diet.
Poodles are unique in the fact that they cause the fewest allergic reactions in humans. Though they require a good deal of grooming they have special fur that is more like hair and is less likely to cause allergies than most other breeds. This is the sole reason some people will own no other breed of dog
