American Bulldog Rescue

It is really good to get a dog from an American Bulldog rescue, although it is important that you prepare yourself for what lies ahead. Be prepared for some rough times when you adopt a Bulldog from a rescue group, especially for the first few weeks after your bring them home. Remember it is likely that the dog has had some difficult times and events if they have to be rescued and this can have a lasting impact on the dog.

The dog can also be highly disturbed by the events since most rescued Bulldogs are adults by the time you rescue them, this only makes the training situation more difficult. Don’t expect to get along with your Bulldog rescue right away. Rather the Bulldog is stubborn and dominant breed by nature so they won’t respond to you right away. Training is going to take awhile no matter what and even more so if the Bulldog has had a bad experience or bad training.

It can be very challenging to try and train or housebreak an adult Bulldog from an American Bulldog rescue. Sometimes you may even feel like your Bulldog rescue is a completely hopeless case. Although it is important that you never give up on your adopted Bulldog, just remember what the dog has likely been through.

Considering this you can easily understand why they react the way they do. Considering prior conditions is even an excellent way to learn which techniques to better train the pet since average training methods may not work for some Bulldog rescues.

Also remember that you are giving the dog a second chance at life, if you give up on them then they will have to go to another home. And if another home is not available then it is likely that the dog will spend the rest of their life in a dog pound or kennel. Keeping these facts in mind can keep you motivated and striving to train your American Bulldog rescue.

Remember that in time your American Bulldog rescue will come to trust you and eventually they will realize that you are their only remaining hope at have a life so as a result they will start to love you just as much as you love them. This is also a major benefit of adopting an American Bulldog rescue. By going with a rescue dog they will be forever grateful and loyal to you once they find they have been adopted into a home with an owner that is going to take proper care of them.

However, there may still be times when you need to ask for help. Think about enrolling in dog training classes to get help if your American Bulldog rescue is too difficult to train on your own.

Professional individuals should only train truly difficult dogs. There are both advantages and disadvantages to American Bulldog rescue, although they are about even so you need to rely on your own instincts when you choose to adopt an American Bulldog rescue.
