Using the Ancient Art of Chinese Feng Shui

by Kyle Richey

There are many people today who are very interested in the ancient art and science that is Chinese feng shui. They are curious as to whether or not it can really usher in positive energy and vitality to their lives, and help with such things as wealth, health, and happiness.

Chinese feng shui is not a magic bullet to bring bags of money to your doorstep or miraculously cure your ailments. There are however many positive benefits that you can receive when applying Chinese feng shui principles to your life. Let’s have a closer look at some of these.

Chinese feng shui encourages harmony and peace within the home. It encourages people to de-clutter both their lives and their homes. It is impossible to tell other people what can and cannot be considered clutter in their homes because, as the saying goes, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. Chinese feng shui is used to encourage positive energy so anything that induces negative feelings or drains energy can be considered clutter.

You can apply this thought to your life as well as your material possessions. If you have a so-called friend, for example, who only calls you when she needs something and is usually over-emotional, do you really need this friend? If you feel exhausted and drained when she has finished speaking to you, is this person someone you need or can she be considered clutter? A so-called friend like this is just using you, taking everything and giving nothing in return. You should not feel bad about ending this particular friendship.

Asian cultures value hard work and giving your best to your career and your family. Chinese feng shui encourages you to use your energy in these ways, which will in turn encourage more positive energy to flow into your life. Think about ways to apply this to your own family.

Do you use your energy, resources and time to encourage strong family bonds? Do you see your family as deserving of your time and energy? Do you feel rewarded and happy when your family are in harmony and happy with one another? If you can understand and apply this Chinese feng shui principle that positive energy attracts more positive energy, you should work hard at strengthening your family bonds as much as you can.

There’s also a lot of emphasis on how color affects mood and energy in your environment and in the home. However, be sure that you don’t mistake myth and folk lore as strict rules. While certain colors can contribute to certain moods, a red front door isn’t necessarily lucky, and some colors aren’t more likely to make you wealthy.

However, when you used certain colors in particular areas of the home, you can create a desired mood. If you use a bright color, you’ll feel more energized. Soft or dark colors are more likely to soothe you and make you more calm.

In these few ways, you can see how Chinese feng shui can add positive energy and vitality in your own life.
