Easy Ways In Obtaining Free Ringtones

by Chris Channing

Free ringtones may be hard to obtain for some, but they aren’t impossible with the right mobile phone and a little ambition. Mobile phone companies and third party companies make millions each year from selling ringtones- but for the technological geniuses of the world, money most spend on ringtones can go to better uses elsewhere.

Free ringtones will be available solely at the discretion of the mobile provider’s rules. Some companies don’t allow third party add-ons such as ringtones. In the United States, the U.S. Cellular brand of services is a perfect example of this fact. If one’s provider doesn’t allow for third party programs and content, one is likely going to have to pay for their ringtones no matter what they do.

Even if one’s cell phone provider doesn’t allow for third party content, new technologies can bypass this fact. Bluetooth and USB connections will allow users of different phones or mobile devices to communicate with other devices. In this instance, a friend or family member with a ringtone could send the ringtone to the other without incurring any costs or charges.

Copyright infringement is a major topic in obtaining ringtones. Bands and artists don’t like not receiving royalties, but their record labels are even more enraged they aren’t earning a commission. Some websites give away free ringtones simply because the country in which hosts the website and creator doesn’t have strict copyright laws. Keep in mind, however, downloading them can still get one in trouble if their own country’s laws are more strict.

Some computer programs will allow free cell phone ringtones to be obtained as well. In this instance the consumer will need to have the music they want as a ringtone already in their library. By sectioning off a certain part of the song and converting it to the required format, one can obtain a ringtone from their own library for absolutely no cost. With a little searching, such programs can be found for free as well.

Just turning on the television, one can see how many ringtone scams there are in the industry. Many commercials state that free ringtones can be obtained by calling a certain number or texting a certain location. Either way, the fine print on the bottom of the screen better be read, because 99% of the time there are going to be fees associated with the “free” ringtone.

In Conclusion

Free ringtones aren’t a myth- they just take a little bit of work to obtain. Even if one’s service provider won’t allow them to have free ringtones, making use of technology to get around such facts is quite easy. Just be sure to check with one’s local laws to be sure any actions taken are not in violation of a copyright infringement law or breech of contract.
